We now offer a cost effective way of getting advice from our GP’s without leaving home!

At Vitalis Health, we offer a 10 minute Video Consultation with a GP for anyone experiencing mild viral symptoms of a cold or flu. Symptoms tend to include:

  • Sore Throat

  • Runny or blocked nose

  • Headache

  • Fever

  • Body aches and pains

  • Blocked ears/pain in ears

  • Sinus pressure

  • Fatigue

We will make an assessment by video and guide you on general advice to help stay well and recover.

In some cases our GP may need to provide you with a prescription for an antibiotic, for tonsillitis or sinusitis for example, and what to do should your symptoms worsen.

Prior to your appointment, we will require you to complete a health questionnaire to take account of any risk factors for serious infection, current medications, allergies and your general medical history.

How does the Coughs & Colds Clinic work?

It consists of a 10 minute video consultation which can be booked online or by calling the clinic on 02896913000. All consultations are carried out by our registered GPs who you can find out more about here.

You will receive a confirmation email following your booking. This email contains a link which you require for the consultation. Simply click this at the time of your appointment and the call will connect!

What is included in the cost of the consultation?

All Coughs & Colds appointments include the consultation and written prescription if required.

There are instances where we may require you to attend the clinic for a face to face appointment if we identify any concerning symptoms during the video call.
There will be a further charge of £75 for this 15 minute appointment.

Alternatively, you may be advised to attend A&E with a letter provided by our GP referencing your consultation. For this, there is a £30 charge.

What are the serious Risk Factors for Colds & Flu?

For most people, coughs and colds are self-limiting in that they improve on their own over time. However, if you fall into one of the ‘at risk’ groups, there can be serious complications:
- Pregnant Women
- Over 65’s
- People with chronic conditions such as Diabetes, Heart Disease, Asthma, COPD, Kidney disease, suffered a stroke
- People with weakened immune symptoms such as those undergoing chemotherapy and transplant recipients.

Who can avail of the Coughs & Colds Clinic?

We welcome patients of any age to Vitalis Health, including children.
